Assistance in navigating the inheritance process

When a loved one dies, such as a parent or grandparent, it can be a stressful situation for many Minnesota families. Dealing with the grief of losing someone and the details that surround the death, including a funeral, life insurance benefits, death certificates, and other important paperwork. But sometimes families can disagree when it comes to the inheritances that are being passed down. This is where our firm can be helpful in resolving complex disputes.

When brothers and sisters disagree over their parents' estate it is a painful time for everyone involved. There are many volatile emotional ties that families have towards their parents' family home and other assets. Even if there is a will, family members can disagree with the terms.

We have the experience necessary to help these families work out their differences in a dignified manner. Our attorneys can analyze the estate planning documents that are present and propose compromises that can help families work out their differences. A compromise can help a family save time and money when disputing portions of a will. If a compromise cannot be worked out, we advise our client what is involved in contesting a will and can advocate on our client's legal behalf.

Unfortunately, the death of a parent or grandparent can lead to siblings disputing over their inheritance. Occasionally a child has disappointed expectations of their inheritance or there are other circumstances surrounding a will that require a person to dispute it. Our firm is sensitive to a family's emotions during this stressful time. We seek to help a family resolve problems and minimize probate and trust litigation.
